In June 2019 the UK pledged to reaffirm its commitment to cut greenhouse gases by setting a target to cut emissions to ‘net-zero’ by 2050. This is in response to the global ambition to limit warming to ‘well below’ 2°C, with efforts to keep the increase to below 1.5°C. The UN has warned that a climate crisis disaster is happening every week. Decarbonisation in the energy sector is a key factor and new methods of power generation, carbon capture and storage are urgently needed.
All this and more will be the focus of this inaugural conference where all stakeholders can come together to discuss and debate the future way forward.
