A day of art and herbalism, fire and trees. Bringing old and new ideas together, learning and exploring woodland via cultural, social, folkloric, historical and artistic knowledges.
The event takes place in Shoreham Village Hall and in Shoreham Woods. Please note: the outdoor part will involve one steep climb, and ‘off-track’ walking.
Medical herbalist Molly Maitland will bring preparations from plant species that grow in Shoreham Woods for us to try, and will lead a practical workshop on foraging for herbs safely, and making a simple preparation that will help keep us healthy in the coming Autumn and Winter months.
Artist Anna Chrystal Stephens will demonstrate the history of fire making/keeping and bring her collection of tools and artifacts for us to see and try.
Tree specialist Glenn Morris will lead on tree identification, science and uses, and offer insights into traditional woodland management and woodland folklore.
Fiona MacDonald will give a scientific-imaginative presentation on how plants and animals communicate, including examples of her recent work, and will guide a ‘mycorrhizal meditation’ in the woods.
Tickets: £10 adults / £8 under-16s and Shoreham Society members.
